End of the world as we know it Empty End of the world as we know it

Dear Guildies

This is going to be a tough piece to write but after much discussion and agonising among the officers last night (Sunday 4th October 2009) we have sadly reached the decision that we have come to the end of the line as a viable raiding guild. Since the disasterous summer when many core players in the guild unfortunately decided to leave DoH out of impatience for faster raid progression, the guild has slowly been fading away and losing members on an almost weekly basis and it has proved next to impossible to reverse this decline (thanks to all those who have tried hard) and revive the guild with new members to keep our raiding teams up to strength. In time we would have been a great raiding guild again but too many weren't prepared to give it that time and now we are paying the price.

For this reason (and it has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever made believe me because I've always been in this guild for about 4-5 years since I first started playing WoW) I am planning to take Poshboots out of the guild so that I can start to play my pally again at the level I want to be at - that is essentially doing the highest level raiding that I'm capable of doing and progressing further with this. At the moment in DoH it is an impossible dream expecting to be able to do this in the current state of the guild. Regrettably but understandably I expect that several other of the officer/raid officers in the guild will also be taking a similar decision and moving their mains to full on raiding guilds in the next few days/weeks. Recently I've felt like the captain who cannot abandon a sinking ship because it is my duty to stay 'til the last but I just can't face this slow death any longer.

All is not lost however - we don't intend to disband Death of Honour - we have too much of a history and tradition to contemplate this and I very much hope that we will still be able to keep the guild going for those that wish to continue to stay BUT the focus will be on DoH mainly being an alts, levelling and casual play-style type of guild very much like it was when it first started - so its not all bad - we are just going back to our roots and we can regrow in time from there. Hopefully in time the fortunes of the guild will revive especially as more of our alts that stay in the guild progress to level 80 and continue to develop from there. So please note we're not trying to break up DoH or close it down we want the guild to stay active as far as it is possible in the current climate. All we are proposing to do is move some of our mains to raiding guilds (including the current GL) so that they can do the content that fulfills their potential and makes it worthwhile carrying on playing those chars which is no longer possible in DoH.

Because of this we will be aiming to keep the majority of the guild resources intact including our bank vaults and their contents (because they are communal guild property and do not belong to any one bunch of players) and also this forum of course, but we think it is probably fair and appropriate for a 5K gold grant to be made from our guild to help in the establishment of an alternative raiding guild for ex-players who have given alot in the past to DoH (but this will be a one off golden good-bye and cannot be repeated - otherwise it will look like plundering).

I hope you can understand that this decision was very difficult and was not taken lightly and that you can appreciate our reasons for doing this - we're all very sad it has come to this, but as I say it is not the end of the story for DoH (we will survive).

I'll probably switch the leadership to my warrior (Terenia) or my priest (Isara) but I'll mostly be playing my shammy (Serianda) when I'm online with one of my chars I'm keeping in DoH. So you'll know where to find me still.

Also please do feel free to choose or nominate a new leader if anyone else feels like taking over the reins. Some fresh energy in leading the guild would probably be very welcome and you can always count on my support - I'll be on my DoH chars more often than not I expect even if Posh is no longer in the guild.

Best wishes (and sorry to let you down by deserting). Sad

Sad, sad, sad....

pls make sure that all the ppl that still stick to DoH know about this and thus will be able to make their arrangements.
It is only 1 year for me since i subscribed WoW and joined DoH, so i am none but a mere member, but it wasnīt to my liking that ppl left without telling or just said:" Donīt be alarmed, or worry" when in fact DoH was moving from dormant to zero pulse.

I took these past days to think about it and wont migrate to another freshly formed guild. Same thing, different name - wont help any of us.
My way will probably lead to a bigger guild where i can participate with my limited time, or out of WoW at all.
Wish you all the best in RL, have fun in game and stay the nice, socialising persons i got to know and like.

It was very nice while it lasted

the freshly formed new guild is to stop the fact of inv people who can raid once every month or so - it is to get raiders who will be their on set days with the skill requirement to raid.

We are settign out to have 2x10man temas hoepfully and 1x25 overall have a steady 30 members of Active raiders .....

That is the point Sara...

And the whole point of us leavign well if people would care to use the forum once and a while instea dof once every few weeks then u would have found that alot of comments have been passed about...
