The DoH Scavenger Hunt

Post  Lissia on Tue Jun 16, 2009 12:44 pm

So time for a new fun chilled out event afro as things seem to have been a little stressful in guild recently. The hunt will be take place from 7pm to 9pm on Sunday 21st June (UK time). For those not familiar with the concept scratch , basically you receive a list and are asked to collect as many of the items on it as you can in a given time frame, points are then scored for each item and the winner is the person/team with the highest score.

Teams are welcome to enter as are individuals and you are welcome to use any means you can think of to obtain the items you need including the AH, the GB (as long as you pay for them), grinding, begging in trade, sending from alts etc. Using websites such as wowhead.com and thottbot.com is also allowed (even encouraged). All items will be returned to sender once I have totted up the points.

Entry

The entry fee is 5g per player or team (send to Lissia with the subject ‘DoH Hunt Entry’ – if part of a team please list all team members in your mail otherwise I may disregard the items as coming from a non-competitor). Note that because of the prizes this event will only go ahead if 10 or more teams/individuals have entered (sent me their entry fee) by 6pm on Sunday, if we do not go ahead I will re-fund all entries.

Prizes

The reward for the victor/s will be 300g, 2nd place will win 150g, 3rd place will win 75g which hopefully offers a nice reward and makes it more fun than farming/dailies for the 2 hours Very Happy

The List

I will post the list of items you need to
collect at 7pm on Sunday.

Submissions

I will check my mail at 10pm (1 hour from the end of the hunt)- any submissions arriving after 10.15 will not be counted so make sure you’ve sent me everything you’ve managed to collect by 9pm. I will not accept submission in person so don’t come looking for me and opening trade
windows.

Security

Obviously you need to know this is not some subtle scam I am planning (how could you think such a thing?affraid) so if the guild officers are willing I will place the prize money (525g) in the guild bank tonight/tomorrow and ask them to distribute the prizes. Additionally I’ve tried to make sure the items in the list are predominantly low cost/value. If we end up with entry fees greater
than the full prize value (which seems unlikely) the excess will be added to the winner’s purse. I will not be taking part nor will I be discussing the list with anyone else.

Adjudication

Questions on point totals will be decided by me and I will not be entering into discussions, I will also not discuss why certain items are included/not included, additionally depending on the level of participation it may take me some time to calculate the totals so please do not whisper me for results as this will slow me down (also I’ll deduct 2 points per whisper I see from your score Mad ).

Hope this will be fun, cya Sunday!

The Results

Post  Lissia on Sun Jun 21, 2009 12:41 am

Congratulations to Whoa, Hearticle and Hudson for the most inventive interpretation of the 'green' clothes concept by sending me items that were actually green (i.e. Green Iron Bracers), for the extra effort I credited you with a complete set. Everyone seemed to miss the ranged weapon from their clothing sets (probably my fault for calling them 'clothing' sets but ho hum) as a result this team was the only one successfully getting an item from every category and so win the 'Across the Board' award.

Themonks and Diabloknight sent the most mail by a long way, tonnes of items sent individually from both of them; unfortunately it was often not items on the list or duplicates of things they’d
already sent and they got penalized for it! In addition they managed to get one of each of the crafted items, while the other teams missed the White Leather Jerkin (where there no Leatherworkers on?). They also sent an outrageous variety of meat (16) and ore (18) and high numbers of all the other type items (except bones which they sent none of for some reason). As a result they with the ‘Crafty Mail Crazy Types’ award.

Juppe and Gazd were by far the quickest off the mark, winning the bonus for first items, they also sent three more items before anyone else got to the mailbox! In addition the idea to send ‘Dave’ as the comedy item was genius. As a result they win the ‘Comic Speedsters’ award.

…but I know what you’re really interested in, the final scores right? Well I’ll keep you in suspense no longer:

In 3rd place with 106 points are, Whoa, Hearticle and Hudsona valiant effort after the first counting.

In 2nd place with 113 points are, Juppe and Gazd and probably glad they only asked about the scores once.

And winning by a substantial margin thanks to their efforts with the ‘type’ items and a total of 179 (even after deductions for excess mail), Themonks and Diabloknight.

Good effort all and congratulations to Themonks and Diabloknight who will evermore (or at least till the next one) be known as:

I hope you all enjoyed it, prize money will be sent out asap but I’m not sure who has access to the guild bank’s funds.
